The Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) have commissioned an important piece of research to be conducted among SMEs that use mentors. This is part of a wider project to encourage wider usage of mentors generally among SMEs in the UK. An independent agency, BMG Research, is undertaking the research.
BMG are looking to speak to SME owner/managers that have started to use a mentor for the first time in the past 18 months. The aim of the research is to improve understanding of the mentee journey; from understanding what prompts a small business owner/manager to decide to take a mentor, to the experience of finding and then using one.
If you have started using a mentor for the first time in the past 18 months, and if you are happy to participate, BIS and BMG would be very grateful for your help. This would take the form of a 25-30 minute telephone interview in February, at a time convenient for you. Everything you say in the interview would be entirely confidential, and you would not be identified in the final research report, according to the rules of the Market Research Society Code of Conduct.
If you are interested in taking part, please can you indicate this by emailing Kathryn Waghorn at BMG with your name and a contact telephone number. It would also be helpful if you could indicate your line of business and how long you have been in business. They would then contact a selection of people and arrange an appointment for interview. You are of course under no obligation to take part in the research if you change your mind.
